Britt not making expected impact for Titans

Here are some whispers we've been hearing from around the AFC South:
• Some expected Titans WR Kenny Britt(notes) to nfl jerseys
become a starter and perhaps the club's top target in his second season, but for now, he's coming off the bench. Britt was not thrown to in Week One, something head coach Jeff Fisher chalked up to Tennessee throwing just 17 times, not a lack of focus, an issue Fisher said the club was working on with Britt at the end of the preseason.
• There's no doubt Arian Foster(notes) is the Texans' featured back, but there remains a role for former starter Steve Slaton(notes), who showed a nice burst in the season opener and could be an effective change-of-pace back with speed and pass-catching ability.
• The biceps injury to SS Bob Sanders(notes) and problems with special-teams Bills jersey
coverage in Week One have magnified the loss of S Jamie Silva(notes). Silva, who sustained a season-ending knee injury in the second preseason game against the 49ers, was valuable because he can play both safety positions if needed, in addition to his key special-teams contributions. Third-year DB DaJuan Morgan(notes) is the most experienced backup safety after joining the Colts on Sept. 15.
• The struggles of second-year CB Derek Cox(notes) in Week One could be related to a foot injury he suffered during the preseason, the way we hear it. Cox never appeared to get in the groove against the Broncos, and after being benched in favor of CB David Jones(notes), who played very well considering he has been with the team for such a short time, Cox's confidence took a hit.
• Although Jaguars WR Tiquan Underwood(notes) was impressive returning kicks in Week One — Underwood averaged 38.3 yards on three returns — we hear the team will likely feature rookie Deji Karim(notes), who they feel is a bit more instinctive and does not run as straight up as Underwood, in that role once 49ers jersey
his thumb injury is no longer an issue.
