With starting quarterback Jake Delhomme(notes) hobbled with an ankle injury, the Cleveland Browns are getting Seneca Wallace(notes) ready to start Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
"Seneca has been practicing all week, Jake has been out," Brownsnfl throwback jerseys
offensive coordinator Brian Daboll said in remarks distributed by the team. "He hasn’t been ruled out yet, so if he’s ready to go and Eric (Mangini) and the doctors deem him ready to go, then he will be ready to go.
"But Seneca has practiced all week. I feel comfortable with where he’s at, both in his approach and understanding the game plan. He’s excited and if he gets the chance to play, I expect him to go out there and do well.”
Wallace has started 14 games, going 5-9 overall.
He completed 65 percent of his throws last season for 700 yards, three Chicago Bears jersey
touchdowns and two interceptions with the Seattle Seahawks.
Two years ago, Wallace passed for 1,532 yards, 11 touchdowns and just three interceptions.
He has rushed for 214 career yards and one touchdown.
Wallace is known for his mobility, which Daboll hasn't worked with in the past.
"A running-type, moving guy? No. I’ve been around Tom (Brady), Chad Pennington(notes), Kellen (Clemens) and Jake," Daboll said. "He’s a little bit more of a mobile guy. “I think the unique thing about Seneca is he can move, but he can also drop back and get in the shotgun and operate in the pocket making throws New Orleans Saints jersey
like a traditional guy.
"He just has a little bit more athleticism than some of the guys where he can maybe escape and make a play with his feet or make a play scrambling and keeping his eyes down the field.”
